The Evolution of The Babe Standard: A Journey of Resilience and Growth
When The Babe Standard began in 2018, it was born out of my love for unique accessories. I’d spent years in the fashion industry, but every time I fell in love with a designer piece, I’d see it lose its magic when coworkers wore the same thing. So, I set out to offer something different: unique, affordable accessories priced around $18.
In 2020, my world shifted. Like so many, I lost my job during COVID. But that wasn’t the only challenge I faced. That same year, I suffered a devastating accident, breaking seven bones in my face. It was one of the hardest experiences of my life. I could’ve thrown in the towel, but I didn’t want to let that moment define me or take away what I’d built.
Instead, I pushed harder. I traveled to shows across Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, and Colorado, where I fell in love with connecting with customers and realized the potential for something greater. By the time the job market recovered, I’d hired two part-time interns and a full-time staff member, allowing me to scale the business.
Shortly after, I discovered permanent jewelry and knew it was something special. It not only elevated The Babe Standard but also inspired us to add custom hat and charm bars, giving customers the chance to create deeply personal, one-of-a-kind pieces.
Now, with three brick-and-mortar locations, The Babe Standard has grown far beyond what I imagined in those early days. But for me, growth isn’t about my personal gain—it’s about creating opportunities for others. Watching my team blossom, like one shy team member who’s now a confident face on our social media, inspires me every day. I hope this story shows that, with passion and perseverance, you can build something meaningful—not just for yourself but for the people around you.
